Welcome Elizabeth Hedlund to HELPcare Clinic!

We're pleased to announce that Elizabeth Hedlund, a Physician Assistant with more than 20 years of experience, will be joining the HELPcare Clinic practice beginning February 2.

Elizabeth brings a broad range of primary care skills that will complement those of Dr. Dave Strobel and Nurse Practitioner Stephanie Kimmes. She has experience with patients of all ages, from newborn to 99+, and also is certified to provide Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations for commercial drivers.

Elizabeth and her family live in Owatonna, and she will be mainly practicing at HELPcare Clinic Austin, on Thursdays and Fridays. Although her start date with HELPcare Clinic is February 2, we will be introducing her to the community during today's Restoring the Soul of Health Care segment on KAUS radio, AM 1480.

I asked Elizabeth to write a bit about her background and experience, along with why she was interested in joining the HELPcare Clinic practice. Here's her response:

I attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and then obtained my Physician Assistant degree from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN in 2001.  Most of my medical practice has been spent in family medicine, 10 years with Fairview in the Twin Cities and 5 years with Mayo Clinic in Owatonna, MN. I have also worked in urgent care and in the medical treatment of patients with eating disorders at The Emily Program in St. Paul, MN.  

The best part of practicing medicine is helping people and families improve their whole selves.  I strive to take a functional approach to solving problems and promoting wellness, ultimately guiding people to make the best health care decisions for themselves and their children.

My husband and I have been married since 2000.  We have been blessed with four children, two are biological, one is adopted from Haiti, and another came to us as a foster child and is now permanently ours! Our family values are simple: Love God, Family First, Work Hard, Tell the Truth, Be Kind.  

HELPcare Clinic is paving a new way by combining a functional and wellness approach to health care, with medical freedom, so that you can decide what is best for you and your family.  I’m delighted to be a part of this team!
