Keto Bagels: Cuisine HELP
These bagels are super versatile, a must-try keto recipe!

A few weeks into his ketogenic diet my husband Kyle came into the kitchen and said, "I want to quit, I just miss carbs!" After 3+ weeks eating low carb he was dealing with some major cravings. I was in the process of making some gluten free bagels for our kids so I decided to google "keto bagels" and see what came up.
I found this recipe and whipped up this batch in less than 20 minutes. I took one warm out of the oven and made an egg and cheese bagel sandwich for Kyle. He enjoyed it for his lunch, and within minutes he texted expressing his great satisfaction! Crisis averted; he is still going strong on keto!
Here is the original recipe.
How I Make It
I mixed up the dough using my food processor and it worked really well. I haven't tried mixing the dough by hand, but you could do that if you don't have a food processor. Just make sure that the ingredients are well incorporated. You can always stick the dough mixture back in the microwave to soften more if needed.
I like to weigh my ingredients in grams using my kitchen scale. This really helps with consistency in most recipes. I included the weights I used in parentheses below.
I let the bagels cool on the pan, then sliced and stored them in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator.
We enjoyed these with cream cheese, as various sandwiches, and as my favorite - bagel pizzas (pictured below).
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups (196 grams) of almond flour
- 1 TBLS baking powder
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella (360 grams)
- 2 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 3 large eggs, divided
- Everything Bagel seasoning or sesame seeds (optional)
Step-By-Step Instructions
Prep: 5 Minutes | Cook: 12 Minutes | Servings: 7-8 Bagels
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper or spray treat well.
- Preheat over to 400 degrees.
- In a small bowl combine almond flour and baking powder, set aside.
- In a microwave safe bowl combine mozzarella and cream cheese. Microwave for 30 seconds intervals stirring after each until mixture is melted and smooth.
- Transfer cheese mixture, almond flour mixture, and two eggs into your food processor. Pulse until well incorporated.
- Lightly dust your counter with almond flour and place your dough mixture on top. Divide into 7-8 equal portions.
- Taking one portion at a time, roll it between you hands making a sausage-like shape. Connect the sides to form a bagel and place on the prepared pan.
- Whisk up the remaining egg in a small bowl and brush the egg wash over the bagels. If desired you can top with everything bagel seasoning (my favorite!) or sesame seeds.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes until the bagels are firm to the touch and browned.
- Enjoy!
