Don’t Make this Keto Mistake: HELP Explained

In this case all or nothing is the way to go!

When it comes to healthy habits I have a tendency to be all or nothing. If I don't have time for my 40 minute exercise video, you probably won't find me taking a couple of minutes to do a few squats or going for a quick walk around the block. Instead you'd be more likely to find me scrolling my phone or getting things done around the house.

I have to continually tell myself that something is better than nothing. Getting outside for the quick walk, if that's all I have time for, is better than letting another day go by without intentional movement.

Partial keto isn't the way...

The keto diet is not like this. You either are in ketosis, burning fat as fuel, or you are just increasing your fat intake and most likely putting yourself into a significant caloric surplus. Consuming high amounts of fat while simultaneously eating sugar or carbohydrate rich foods is a sure way to pack on the pounds rather than shed them as a fat burning machine.

Dr. Strobel recommends a low carb, high fat (LCHF) diet when dealing with metabolic syndrome - something that is very common among the majority of Americans. Once you have used the ketogenic diet as a tool to get yourself metabolically healthy, you may have some flexibility to add some carbs back into your diet or as Lee says, to "step off the wagon" occasionally.

It is important for your success on the keto diet to make sure you aren't doing it halfway. As Dr. Strobel and Lee Aase state in the Health, Energy & Longevity Plain (HELP), it's important to prioritize healthy fats and protein in order to keep your body satisfied and avoid the craving-causing blood sugar spikes that carbohydrates often cause.

Go all in!

Lee and Lisa often recommend when coaching members that people try going "hardcore keto" for a few months and see what happens. As we will discuss more in future months this, along with intermittent fasting, is a powerful tool for weight loss and for improving metabolic health.

With HELPcare Clinic membership, your first two personalized metabolic health coaching sessions are included.
