Why does sleep matter? HELP Explained

Sleep sufficiently is one of the ten elements of HELP: The Health, Energy & Longevity Plan.

In this 2019 TED talk, UC Berkeley Neuroscience professor Matthew Walker, Ph.D. (a.k.a. @SleepDiplomat on Twitter) gives a compelling presentation on both the benefits of sleep and the harm that results when we don't sleep well.

I became familiar with Professor Walker's research through Dr. Peter Attia's podcast, and in a future post I'll feature a more in-depth, extended interview. But for starters, this is a great introduction to why sleep is so very important:

Professor Walker is among the top sleep researchers in the world, and learning about his work has changed my life. He's the reason I got an Oura ring to more accurately track my sleep, and why Lisa and I bought a mattress cooling device to improve our deep sleep.

I hope watching this video will encourage you to make sleep a priority!
