What is HELPcare Challenge?: Interview with Coach Jane
Coach, Registered Dietitian, and Challenge leader Jane Connell answered some questions about HELPcare Challenge.

The HELPcare Challenge is a 13 week program to improve your metabolic health. Ninety-three percent of Americans are not metabolically healthy and don’t even know it. We help you turn back the clock on your health. We want to not only help you improve your life-span, but also your health-span. Who wants to live long but live in poor health? Not me! Do you?
Who may benefit from joining the HELPcare Challenge?
Anyone who is interested in improving their health in any way, shape or form, whether you want to improve your lab numbers, shed some unwanted body fat, improve your brain health, etc. You get to determine your personalized health goal.
What can I expect if I join the Challenge?
You get support in making life-style improvements to reach your health goal through several avenues:
- There is a weekly group zoom session that includes education on a new topic each week, along with tips for making lifestyle changes. This group of 10 individuals becomes your tribe that you journey with.
- You get a 1 hour onboarding coaching session with just you and me to establish your goals, determine your strengths and challenges, and understand your “why”.
- You also get 8, half-hour, 1-on-1 coaching sessions with me to support you in reaching your health goal. These are most often done on Zoom but can also be done by phone, and you schedule these at a time that works best for you.
What if I don’t live locally?
All individual coaching and the HELPcare Challenge are done remotely on either Zoom or a phone call. If you don’t live within driving distance of either the Rochester or Austin, MN clinics to get your InBody scan and labs drawn, there are several options. For the labs, you can have your blood drawn at the nearest LabCorp facility (price included in the HELPcare Challenge) or use your lab results from your own primary care provider. For the InBody scan, check the InBody website to see if there are machines in your area (they may charge you to use it).
Why as a coach are you excited about the HELPcare Challenge?
As a coach, I am excited about working with HELPcare in general, because we have the same philosophy, which is a lIfe-style medicine approach. In other words, we help get to the root of your health problem. Instead of relying heavily on pharmaceutical medications as sort of a “bandaid”, we help you make changes in your life-style that in turn, improve your metabolic health.
The curriculum is well planned-out, is targeted for addressing the root of insulin resistance, and it takes you one step at a time. It’s sort of like building a puzzle. All the pieces fit together to form a new, healthier you.
There’s a ton of support on the website including helpful eLearning courses, inspiring blog posts, and low-carb/keto recipes that are tried and true.
We get to use more tools than just the scale to measure progress. You get a pre-and post-Challenge lab panel along with an InBody scan to see how you’ve improved.
What results have you seen in Challenge participants?
We have a month left of the current Challenge, and the participants are really having an eye-opening experience in terms of:
- Understanding why they have felt so stuck with not being able to lose weight in the past.
- Seeing what it takes for their body to get into fat-burning mode.
- Getting support from each other and from their coach in figuring out solutions to their challenges.
- Seeing improvements in energy, in reduced symptoms, in body fat loss, and experiencing what feeling good can feel like. The average person eating the typical SAD (Standard American Diet) doesn’t realize how much better they can feel when they improve their diet and lifestyle.
Start the year fresh
Let’s face it, the holidays can be a challenging time to practice healthy living, especially when we’re surrounded by sweets, holiday gatherings focused on food and alcohol, sedentary behavior, and high levels of stress. It’s pretty normal to gain an average of 5 pounds during the holidays and feel like (well, let’s just say it like it is) “crap”.
Our next Challenge begins on January 9, 2024. Please join it, and let us help give you the tools to improve your health and make changes to your lifestyle that will benefit you for years to come.
Give the Gift of Improved Metabolic Health this Christmas
Perhaps this year, you’d like to give the gift of a health reset, for either yourself or a loved one. There’s a menu of options to choose from including joining the HELPcare Challenge which begins on 1/9/2024.
