Celebrating Two Years and Looking to the Future

HELPcare Clinic opened in Austin, Minnesota two years ago this morning, and as we look back we are amazed at how we have grown and changed, and how God has provided the people and resources we've needed.

When we opened our doors on Feb. 1, 2022 we were grateful for what seemed like more space than we would ever need, but the list of the things we didn't have was much longer than what what we did have. We didn't even really comprehend what we were missing.

  • We hadn't hired any nurses.
  • We were using a mobile phone hotspot for internet access.
  • Dr. Dave Strobel was still working at the Pipe Trades clinic in Eagan four days per week, and would only be seeing patients at HELPcare Clinic on Fridays and Saturdays for the first month.
  • We didn't have any lab equipment, and the medication dispensary was still months away.

What a difference we see today!

  • We have Dr. Strobel full-time along with Nurse Practitioner Stephanie Kimmes and Physician Assistant Elizabeth Hedlund part-time, supported by 15 part-time nurses and office staff.
  • Lisa and I are thrilled that all of our six children (or their spouses) have been involved in some way. Two years ago today they sent us a beautiful plant to celebrate the opening. Now they're part of the HELPcare team!
  • In addition to fully occupying the space in Austin with a Lab and Dispensary, we've opened a second location in Rochester. As of this morning, we have 818 active members between the two!

We've just signed a lease for some additional space upstairs in Austin, which will enable us to have another exam room for additional practitioners as we continue to grow.

For the first year or so I sometimes took new or prospective members on what I called "The Vision Tour." We'd head upstairs and I'd show them the space we could occupy to make room for more patient care downstairs. Now as the renovations are nearly complete, I take them on The Reality Tour.

We appreciate the faith expressed by the people who joined in Austin two years ago as our Founding Members. Their belief in us and what we were called to do has made it possible for others to enjoy the full services that HELPcare Clinic now provides. Some joined before we had even signed the lease for the Austin space. Their support and God's blessing have made real what was previously beyond our imagination!

Now we're in a similar position in Rochester as we were at the start in Austin, but not quite as much faith is required because prospective members can see for themselves what HELPcare Clinic Austin has become. As membership grows, we intend to provide the same range and schedule of services in Rochester as well.

So as we approach the end of the Founding Member stage in Rochester on Feb. 29, now is a GREAT time to join: You'll lock in 20-23% savings off our regular membership dues for as long as you remain a member. Join online using the coupon code DIY50 and you'll save an extra $50 off the one-time registration fee.

Or stop by one of our five February Founding Member Open Houses, every Thursday night (starting tonight!) from 5-7 p.m. We're at 2150 2nd ST SW, about a half-mile west of Highway 52 and across from Kwik Trip in the Southwest Chiropractic suite. (We'll have some exterior signage soon, but for now look for the fluorescent green Open House signs.)

We'd be happy to show you The HELPcare Clinic Difference! Give us a call at 507-279-2345, or complete the form on the HELPcare Clinic Rochester page and we'll be in touch.

And if you're in Austin, please stop by anytime to learn more about how you can get most of the health care you need for most of your life through our affordable membership. We're at 308 4th Avenue NW, a block east of Saint Augustines. We look forward in faith to seeing how HELPcare Clinic can be a blessing to many more of our neighbors in southeastern Minnesota.
