Listening to Your Body’s Whispers

Welcoming Dr. Dawn Jacobson to HELPcare Clinic Rochester

What if your doctor could hear your body’s whispers before it starts shouting?

In the old system, you go to the clinic, they draw a few tubes of blood, run a handful of basic tests, and then tell you, “Everything looks normal. Come back if it gets worse.”

You still feel tired. Or foggy. Or “off.”

But you’re sent home with an over‑the‑counter suggestion and a shrug.

At HELPcare Clinic, we believe that’s not good enough.

That’s why I’m excited to introduce you to Dr. Dawn Jacobson, who will be joining HELPcare Clinic Rochester as our newest physician starting January 6.

From Minnesota to California and Back Again

Dr. Jacobson grew up in Minnesota, spent more than two decades practicing in places like California, Washington, D.C. and Denver, and then came home during the pandemic.

For years she has focused on:

  • Preventive medicine
  • Integrative and functional medicine
  • Lifestyle medicine

When she first learned about HELPcare Clinic, she said it “felt like home” right away.

In other words, she cares about the same things we do:
Unhurried time. Whole‑person care. Prevention, not just prescriptions.

When “Normal” Labs Aren’t the Whole Story

Here’s a pattern she sees all the time:

“My doctor says my labs are fine. But I know something’s wrong.”

In the fee‑for‑service world, most primary care doctors run a short list of routine tests. Dr. Jacobson often starts with 70+ markers, plus specialty tests when needed.

That means:

  • She can see what’s happening at the cellular level, not just at the crisis level.
  • She can pick up the “whispers” in your body before they become shouts.

She pulls together four kinds of data:

  1. Your lab results
  2. What you actually do day‑to‑day (food, sleep, movement, stress, spiritual practices)
  3. How you feel when you do it (energy, symptoms, side effects)
  4. What the best evidence suggests

That means you’re not reduced to a lab number or a diagnosis code. You’re a whole person, and your plan reflects that.

A Special Focus on Brain Health and Dementia Prevention

One of the most feared diagnoses is dementia. Most people think it “just happens” and there’s nothing they can do.

Dr. Jacobson disagrees.

She has extensive training in the Bredesen Protocol, an approach that looks at dozens of “holes in the roof” that can lead to cognitive decline: blood sugar, blood pressure, toxins like mold, infections, gut and oral health, hormones, sleep, and more.

That means you don’t have to wait for a memory test to go badly before you start working on your brain. You can start now, while you still feel pretty good.

How This Fits the HELPcare Membership Model

In the old system, insurance decides how much time you get and which tests “count.”

In our model:

  • You’re a member, not a number.
  • Your HELPcare Premier membership includes $0 primary care office visits and $0 charge for 100+ lab tests as needed.
  • There are no surprise bills from HELPcare Clinic.

Dr. Jacobson will offer specialty integrative and functional medicine visits as an additional service for HELPcare Clinic members in Rochester.

That means:

  • We use the deep lab panel already included in your HELPcare Premier membership as the foundation.
  • She adds targeted testing and longer visits when you want to go deeper on prevention, complex symptoms, or brain health.
  • HELPcare Premier members get discounted rates for visits with Dr. Jacobson.

You still get the predictability of membership, and you gain access to a physician whose whole career has been built around prevention and root‑cause care.

What’s Next

If you’re already a HELPcare Clinic member, you’re part of this experiment in better primary care. Adding Dr. Jacobson is our next step in giving you most of the care you need for most of your life, including deeper help when “something just feels off.”

If you’re not yet a member, this is a great time to explore whether HELPcare Clinic is right for you.
