Cranberry Sauce: Cuisine HELP

Cut back on sugar this Thanksgiving by subbing this easy, sugar-free cranberry sauce!

There is nothing quite like the combination of turkey and cranberry sauce on Thanksgiving Day. For many people this means the store-bought sauce filled with high fructose corn syrup molded in the shape of the can.

Many of your favorite foods can be adapted or recreated to fit into the keto diet. This cranberry sauce is one of them! You will be amazed how easy it is. My daughter, who loves cranberry sauce, said, "Mom I wouldn't know this was sugar-free if you hadn't told me!" In all transparency, it does have a bit of a different taste depending on the sweetener you use, but the longer you stay away from sugar, the better these low-carb sweeteners will taste.

The original recipe can be found here.

How I Make It

I like the compliment of orange flavor in my cranberry sauce. I attain this by replacing the water in the original recipe with orange juice. You can also add some orange zest for extra flavor if you are using fresh squeezed juice.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounce bag Fresh Cranberries
  • 4 ounces Orange Juice
  • 1/3 cup Pyure Sweetener (you could sub in whatever low carb sweetener you prefer to taste)
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon

Step-by-Step Instructions

Prep: 5 minutes | Cook: 10 minutes | Servings: 8

  1. Combine cranberries and orange juice in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until all of the berries pop (5-7 minutes).
  2. Add other ingredients and simmer on low until sauce reaches desired thickness. As it cools, it will thicken further.
  3. Store in the refrigerator in a covered container.
