Join HELPcare Group Fast III

We're holding our third group fast this week to provide support, encouragement and motivation for HELPcare Challenge participants and others who want to take their experience of fasting up a notch.

After a long holiday weekend that likely included some dietary indulgence for most of us, now's a great time to climb back on the wagon, and fasting can give you a quick boost!

Limit When you Eat (another way of saying "fasting") is one of 10 elements of HELP: The Health, Energy & Longevity Plan, which is the health improvement guide Dr. Dave Strobel and I developed as we were conceiving HELPcare three years ago.

Stretch Your Fasting Experience

Our HELPcare Clinic passion is building relationships with our members and helping them take charge of their health and their health care.

HELPcare Group Fast III is this week! Start whenever it works for you, and try to push your fast just a bit further than what you've done previously:

  • If you typically struggle with late-night snacks, shut your eating window after dinner and do a 12-hour daily fast.
  • If you ordinarily fast overnight, try pushing breakfast to noon and make it a 16-hour fast.
  • If 16 hours is your norm, see if you can stretch it to 24.
  • If you've previously fasted for a day or more, consider a three-day fast.

My wife Lisa and I have been doing three-day fasts roughly every other month. It's a great way to reboot your immune system, and as indicated in the articles linked above, it has likely benefits for cancer prevention and longevity.

I started this fast Sunday at 6 p.m. and plan to go until Wednesday at 6, with just black coffee and electrolytes.

You can start whenever you're ready, and end when it feels like it's time.
