Learning Where the Money Goes in Health Care

Everybody agrees health care in the U.S. is way too expensive. Our guest this week on Take Charge with HELPcare has devoted himself to learning the reasons why, and to developing health plans for employers that enable them to provide better benefits for employees while keeping costs under control.

Colton Storla from North Risk Partners has been a trusted partner for us in developing employer health plans that have HELPcare Clinic membership as the foundation, which we call Health Insurance with HELPcare.

As he describes in this episode, he saw relatively early in his career working as an insurance broker that insurance costs for employers and employee deductibles were steadily (and sometimes rapidly) increasing, with no end in sight.

That's why he decided to dive in to get a deeper understanding of how employer health plans are put together, and has focused on developing better options. Here's his story and some of what he learned:

Colton will be our guest in a future episode in which we'll get into more of the specific details about how employee health plans like this work. He'll describe why they provide a better health care experience for employees and their families while also saving on costs:

  • Out-of-pocket expenses for employees are lower, or in many cases $0, when they choose high-quality, reasonably priced options.
  • Monthly plan premiums are lower, which means employers don't have to take as much out of paychecks to cover the employee share.
