Welcoming Complementary Perspectives
As a physician trained in allopathic medicine, Dr. Dave Strobel is able to prescribe medications as needed to relieve symptoms and support healing.
With more than 30 years of experience in practice, however, he realizes that medications alone are insufficient to restore health. That's why we wrote HELP: The Health, Energy, & Longevity Plan together, and why HELPcare Coach services are included in HELPcare Clinic membership.
We recognize that many health improvements result from dietary and lifestyle modifications. By removing self-inflicted obstacles to health, particularly those related to the standard Western diet, our fearfully and wonderfully made human bodies often have amazing capacity to bounce back.
While Dr. Strobel has not trained formally in Functional Medicine and Naturopathy, he has investigated some of these treatment strategies and is open to learning from others (including patients!) and expanding the toolbox of available treatments.
That's why we were glad when Cheryl Block approached us with her interest in herbalism. Cheryl is a retired RN from the Austin area who has done extensive personal study on herbs, which have been used medicinally in many cultures.
She has been helping many friends, and friends of friends, who are searching for and finding herbal treatments for their ailments.
Cheryl is interested in continuing to help more people, and (in a play on words related to our work with HELPcare and HELPcare Clinic) she calls her project HERBcare.
While Cheryl's services are not included in HELPcare Clinic membership, we're happy to connect those interested in exploring herbal options with Cheryl.
We've also invited her to contribute a series of HERBcare blog posts, which we'll be publishing occasionally starting next week.
