Use Your HSA to Save on Membership!

Do you have a health savings account (HSA) with your health insurance plan?

Recent changes in U.S. tax law have made HELPcare Clinic's already-affordable membership options an even better value!

People who have a Health Savings Account (HSA) can now use those funds to pay monthly membership dues for direct primary care (DPC) clinics like HELPcare Clinic.

HSAs are tax-advantaged accounts; when you contribute to an HSA it reduces your taxable income, which means you can pay eligible medical expenses with pre-tax dollars.

To be eligible to make HSA contributions, you need to have a qualifying high-deductible health plan.

Many employers offer HSA plans, and all of the Bronze MnSure.org plans are now HSA-compatible.

The new tax law specified that memberships are HSA-qualified medical expenses, up to $150 per month for a single person or $300 per month for a family.

By paying for your $149/month HELPcare Premier membership with pre-tax dollars, the real cost would be reduced by your tax rate. So if you're in the 20% bracket, that's less than $120/month.

This applies to HELPcare Basic membership as well, so someone in that bracket would effectively save $19.80/month on the $99 dues by using pre-tax HSA dollars.

If you have questions about using your HSA for membership, call or text our HELPcare Membership line at (507) 418-8465, or send us an email at memberships@helpcare.health.

We'll also be glad to get you in touch with a licensed health insurance agent who is familiar with HELPcare Clinic membership and who can provide insurance guidance at no cost to you.
